My journey at Carmel College of Engineering and Technology was truly transformative. It strengthened my technical foundation in Civil Engineering and taught me how to manage people, processes, and technology with balance and clarity. Through on-site experiences, I discovered my passion for the management side of operations, which became the turning point in my career path. The faculty mentors, especially our HOD, Dr. Susan Jacob, were constant pillars of support who encouraged analytical thinking and real-world application. I’m Vrinda K. Kumar, currently doing my PhD in Environmental Engineering at IIT Palakkad. But honestly, whenever I think about where it all really began, my mind goes straight back to my B. Tech days at Carmel College of Engineering & Technology, Punnapra. Those four years weren’t just about academics; they shaped me as a person, too. The Civil Engineering department there felt like a family. We had good labs and a solid curriculum, but what really made the difference were the teachers. They weren’t just faculty, they were mentors who always encouraged us to think beyond the syllabus, to connect theory with practice, and to believe in ourselves. I can still recall the little moments: guidance during projects, the excitement of industrial visits. I learned a lot more than just engineering, I learned how to believe in myself. Looking back now, Carmel wasn’t just my college; it was the place where I discovered what I wanted to do, where I got the confidence to dream bigger.
