Internal Complaints Committee (ICC)

In accordance with the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 and the directives of the University Grants Commission (UGC) the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of Carmel College of Engineering and Technology is established with a motto of “Zero tolerance policy” against any form of sexual harassment or gender-based misconduct. The committee aims to ensure a safe, secure and gender-sensitive environment for all students, faculty members and non-teaching staff within the college premises.

Objectives

  • To prevent and prohibit sexual harassment and gender-based discrimination.
  • To create a healthy and respectful work and study environment for all members of the institution.
  • To provide a platform for redressal and ensure fair and confidential handling of complaints.

Filing a Complaint

Upon receiving a complaint, the ICC will take the following steps:

  1. Preliminary Enquiry: The ICC conducts a preliminary investigation to verify authenticity, collecting evidence and statements from relevant witnesses.
  2. Report Submission: After the enquiry, the ICC prepares and submits a detailed report to the Principal with supporting documents and findings.

Support and Preventive Actions

The ICC ensures all necessary support for the affected individual and takes preventive measures to avoid recurrence. Proceedings follow the UGC Regulations, 2015 and the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, ensuring a timely, fair, and sensitive process.

Handling False Complaints

If an investigation determines that a complaint was filed with malicious intent or knowingly false allegations, disciplinary actions may be initiated as per UGC Regulations, 2015.
